One Killed in Small Plane Crashes in Martin

The City of Martin Fire/Rescue responded to the report of a small plane
crash at 8:25 the morning June 25, 2024. The incident took place in the
900 block of Vancleave Road in the rural area of Martin, TN.

Responders arrived on scene to find a small, single engine aircraft
crashed in a wooded area approximately 50 yards off the roadway.
Fire/EMS personnel are still actively working the scene.

The FAA and NTSB have been notified and will be at the scene to investigate. 

The pilot of the aircraft has been confirmed dead by Emergency Management Director Ray Wiggington who stated that the pilot was experienced and was driving a new crop duster. 

Chairman of ESRA Board confirmed the name of the pilot was Scott Rainey.

"It is with profound sadness that I report the loss one of our own this morning, Scott Rainey. Scott, a long term ESRA Board Member, Aviator, and AG pilot, will be sorely missed. He was an outstanding board member, serving on our Personnel Committee and was Chairman of the Ag Committee. Words can be of little consolation at this time of grief and heartache, but we offer our deepest and heartfelt sympathy. Please remember the Rainey family in your daily prayers," Chairman stated. 

Vancleave Road will remain closed from Three Point Road to Bizzle Lane. If you live in that section, you will be allowed to enter your residence.
