The City of Dresden received bids for their ARPA Sewer and Rehabilitation project at their October board meeting. and three bids were received. The city received a bid in the amount of $2,204,629.50 from Bobby Luttrell & Sons LLC, a bid in the amount of $2,473,856.00 from SAK Construction LLC and a bid in the amount of $2,494,644.00 from Gulf Coast Underground LLC. Project Manager Travis Martin from A2H recommended that the city go with Bobby Luttrell and Sons LLC of Dundee, KY. The money will come from ARPA funds that were awarded by grant to the city.

“Bobby Luttrell and Sons is still about $100,000.00 over our grant, but we think we can work with them and get underneath that money,” Dresden Mayor Mark Maddox explained.

The board approved the bid unanimously.

The board discussed a capital outlay for the water department regarding a service truck. This would be to replace the water department’s 16-year-old service truck according to Director Josh Lassiter. A quote received from Ford of Murfreesboro in the amount of $59,695.00 was approved.

The board also passed an aldermen compensation ordinance which will increase a Dresden alderman’s pay to $100.00. The pay for aldermen in Dresden has not been increased in over 20 years according to Maddox. This ordinance requires two readings and will become effective after the second reading at the regularly scheduled meeting in November.

The city of Dresden passed a budget resolution to repair a firetruck that was damaged during a call. The $2,025 received from insurance will be used for repair and maintenance of the fire truck.

The city of Dresden is currently in the process of bidding the Water tower paint job out, but they have run into a snag on testing the surface paint-it has to be lead tested before the city can go any further.

The next board meeting will be held on Monday, November 4 at 6 p.m. at Dresden City Hall.
