The Ned McWherter Weakley County Library held its 2nd annual plant swap and homemade ice cream event on Wednesday, July 31.

The event, hosted by the library, featured a dairy program presented by Mary Morgan and Weakley County 4-H. Morgan made homemade chocolate ice cream for all visitors attending the event.

Visitors were able to bring a plant, bulb or clipping and swap out with others attending the event. For each plant, bulb or clipping participants brought in they received a ticket to be put into a jar for a garden-themed basket drawing prize. The basket included a $500 gift card to the Weakley County Library.

Numerous men, women and children from the community attended the event.

Candy McAdams, Library Director, heard about other libraries participating in the event and planned the event last year for Weakley County. This year, Mary Morgan was making homemade ice cream for National Ice Cream Month in July and McAdams was delighted to bring that addition to the event.

Sara Reid, Children’s Librarian said that they hoped to continue having the event every year as it draws numerous members of the community to the library.
