Sonja Cheri Capps Sanders: 1940-2024

Sonja Cheri Capps Sanders was born November 10, 1940, passed away on July 23, 2024 in North Platte, Nebraska. Cheri was born in Skullbone, TN and was raised in Gleason, TN where her parents, Doyle and Wylodean Capps owned and operated Capps Market for over 45 years. Cheri attended Gleason High School and after marriage, moved to Memphis, TN where she raised her family. After her children were grown, she lived in Colorado before moving to North Platte, Nebraska where she lived with her daughter.

Cheri leaves behind her sister, Annette Capps Holmes of McKenzie, TN, her four children, Angela Croom (Steve), Tianya Campbell, Brent Sanders and Damona Johnson (Earl). Cheri also leaves behind her 10 beloved grandchildren, Amber, Sarah, Katy, Jamie, Carson, Dylan, Bryan, Kami, Aiden and Jason and several great grandchildren.

Cheri was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Johnson and her loving parents Wylodean and Fern Doyle Capps of Gleason, TN. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery in Gleason. A private family ceremony will be held in honor of her life.
