Five Skyhawks Named Preseason Offensive Players To Watch In OVC-Big South

Before the third season of play in the OVC-Big South, the conference has announced their offensive players to watch. Five Skyhawks grace the list.

R-Sr QB Jase Bauer: The redshirt senior quarterback comes in from Sam Houston State where he made seven appearances while throwing for 310 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception while completing 40 of his 65 passes. Bauer also added 195 rushing yards in his seven games last season.

R-Sr RB Armoni Goodwin: Goodwin comes to UT Martin after a brief stop at UAB, and after starting his career at LSU. During the 2022 season at LSU, Goodwin toted the ball 45 times for 267 yards and five touchdowns. He would average just under six yards per carry during that 2022 season. Goodwin has battled injuries during his playing career, as his 2022 season got cut short by a knee injury, and he didn’t see the field in 2023.

R-Jr WR Phaizon Wilson: At 6’2” and 215 pounds, Wilson has the build to be a breakout wide receiver for UT Martin this season. Wilson comes in from Akron, but the only stats recorded for the redshirt junior date back to 2022 at Grambling State. Wilson recorded ten catches for 93 yards and one touchdown at Grambling. He averaged 9.3 yards per catch.

Sr TE Drake Martinez: Martinez comes to Martin, Tennessee from Houston Christian. The senior played in 11 games for the Huskies last season, hauling in 16 catches for 142 yards, and two touchdowns. Martinez recorded a catch in eight of the 11 games that he played in. His best performance came against Indiana State. He recorded four catches for 29 yards, and a touchdown catch.

Grad OL Josiah Tingley: The last man on the watchlist for UT Martin has called Martin his home since 2020. Tingley didn’t see any action in his first two years with the Skyhawks. In 2022 he appeared in 11 games, including a start, and helped an offensive line that ranked 6th nationally in sacks allowed and 19th in passing offense with 269.4 yards per game. In 2023, Tingley was named to the All-Conference second team while starting eight games and playing in nine.

The Preseason Defensive Players to Watch List will be released on Tuesday while the Predicted Order of Finish and Preseason Players of the Year will come out on Wednesday.
