FARM CREDIT MID-AMERICA BACKS IMPROVEMENTS AT WEAKLEY COUNTY SCHOOLS AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION COMPLEX

Posted

Farm Credit Mid-America is pledging $100,000 to support ongoing enhancements to the Weakley County Schools Agricultural Education Complex. This investment will be given over the next two years to help revitalize the farm's buildings and facilities and create a dynamic learning environment for students, teachers, and community members.

The Agricultural Education Complex is a 115-acre farm that has been self-sustaining for over 50 years. It is the only multi-species, school-owned and operated production farm in Tennessee and serves as the ultimate outdoor classroom for Weakley County students in grades pre-K through 12.

"We are excited to partner with Weakley County Schools to support the agricultural education programs the Ag Education Complex makes possible," said Financial Officer Jason Sullivan. "This investment will help ensure that students have access to hands-on learning opportunities that will prepare them for successful careers in agriculture and related fields."

Farm Credit Mid-America’s investment will be used to enhance the facilities at the Agricultural Education Complex, creating a vibrant atmosphere that will inspire and motivate students to explore the world of agriculture. The farm offers a variety of programs, including a class where students earn credits for graduation by spending time on the farm, as well as work-based learning placements for students to gain real-world experience.

"We are grateful for Farm Credit Mid-America’s support as we work to expand and improve our agricultural education program," said Grants Director Angie Rushing. "This investment will help us continue to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical, real-world applications and help us provide our students with the tools and resources they need to succeed in the rapidly evolving field of agriculture."

Farm Credit Mid-America joins Tosh Farms, McWherter Farms, Syntenga US, Weakly County Farmers Co-Op, Tennessee Tractor, Nutrien Ag Solutions, the University of Tennessee at Martin and Moore Farms in support of the ongoing enhancements to the Ag Education Complex.
