Dale Lee Overton, 88, of Martin, TN passed away peacefully at home on
September 21, 2024. He is preceded in death by his wife Nancy and parents Roy and Rebecca. A lifelong resident of West Tennessee, he will be remembered for his dedication to family, friends, community, and the St. Louis Cardinals.
He is survived by his three children Thomas, Tracy (Virginia), and Tori (Mark); his beloved grandchildren Nicki, Kristen, Sydney (Garrett), Chandler (Matthew), Thomas, Lanie, Preslee and Payton; great-granddaughters Brooxie and Piper; nieces Jinny and Molly, and his great-nieces, Callen, Caroline and Lauren.
Dale had a remarkable gift for brightening the day of everyone he met. His infectious laugh and knack for storytelling made even the most ordinary moments unforgettable.
We will always cherish his charming sense of humor and genuine care for others, as well as his treasured role of husband, son, father, grandfather, veteran, educator, and dear friend. His profound legacy in Weakley County as a County Commissioner will be honored, and the laughter he brought into our lives will be remembered with deep fondness and gratitude.
The Overton family sends a heartfelt thank you to this amazing community for all the love and support they have shown our father. He loved you all.
Services were held Thursday, September 26, 2024, 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Martin with Pastor Amanda Crice officiating. Burial followed in Highland Cemetery in Greenfield, TN. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 25, 2024, 4:00 P.M.- 7:00 P.M. at Murphy Funeral Home, or after 10:00 A.M. at the church on Thursday until service time at 11:00.
Pallbearers were Tim Wilson, Russ Gilliam, Larry Alexander, Jimmy Westbrook, Buddy Babb, Nick Dunagan, Marvin Alexander, Keith Unger, Scott Killebrew, Bob Taylor, Richard Killebrew, John Bucy and Richard Jackson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Hazlewood, Billy Cash, David Murphy, Tommy Townsend, Larry Kelly, Richard Kelly, Tom Seratt, Steve Bates, Van Swaim, Judge Walton West, Justin Crice, David Bell, Roger Donaldson, Dr. Mike Hinds, Jack Reese, Bill Jackson, Harry Lee Caudle, Roland Pope, David Graham, James Hynds, Bucky Harris, Danny Knapp and the rest of the Burger King Coffee Crew. Special Friends to serve are Kathy Bucy, Shantell Gilliam,
Linda Luther, Pat Page, Nina Cash, Madelyn Pritchett, LuEllen Alexander, Elex Carter, Betty Babb, Melba Jackson, Virginia Kelly, Cathy Dunagan and Donna Wilson.
